Lashings of fun

Sugar, water, ginger, yeast. Three weeks later and I can barely walk! No idea how strong it is but after 3 pints I'm wavering about having a fourth... and it's still brewing. The second batch should be better.

Nothing focuses the mind like session playing in a studio. Playing live you never pay much attention to slightly sloppy timing, less than perfect pitch and the odd fluffed note. In the studio everything has to be as near perfect as possible without becoming mechanical and losing soul. The pressure sits fairly heavy sometimes as time is money and the quicker you get a good take the sooner you can move on. Today I was at a home studio so there wasn't that time pressure but the song had some pretty interesting changes that took a bit of concentration to get right. As the track passed the instrumental break and entered the last quiet vocal section I knew I had cracked it. I played it out and despite the one fluff I made early on it was a good take. I wanted to go one more time but between the first and second take the guy was really pleased. The rough mix sounds good.

French Flattie

I think I might have been the only English person that loved it. Taken at Linkert Attacks 2010

The word "bugger" typed itself across my visual memory as I saw the ground looming towards me. At first I was pleased that the front wheel of my bicycle had stopped after the huge drop off, if anything it rolled backwards a little. Unfortunately the rest of the bicycle was still in motion... with me on it. I rolled clear after breaking my fall squarely on my head and counted my lucky stars as they orbited my head punctuated by small tweeting birds. It took a while to shake the ringing noise out of my ears and count my limbs. Nothing broken thankfully. Crash helmet? Wouldn't be without it. Hot bath for sore limbs, cold beer for sore head.

Auld Lang Syne

 Oldtimers 2007.
Seems a long time ago.

It took a while to cut through the fog of my hang-over but some clarity is beginning to return. Crazy bands, crazy DJ, crazy night. I didn't think we'd get away with it but we managed to land the fucker by the very seat of our pants. This has got to be one of the best New Years Eve parties I've ever been to and it's one we put on ourselves. Even if we wanted to do it I don't think we could do the same again. Good riddance 2011.
