Sun shining and dry roads lured my anaemic 45 out of her winter slumber and set us cutting through all of the quietest roads I could find beneath the bare mountain shaped like a chair- also known as Saddleback. I had planned a much longer ride but pissed about too long getting together all the things you take on a ride but never need til you don't take them. It was, of course, biting cold and the cold cut straight through my jeans and well into my knees, staying there long since. It's not like this is the first time this year I've been out on a bike; I've ploughed through some pretty mean weather. But this ride was different. This ride was the beginning of spring.

Happy days #2

So the working week comes to a close for me and I find myself loving my life. Money is tight but I'm making more money than my bills for the last couple of months. I never thought I could make a living from massage and yet my business has grown steadily over the last year with existing and new clients. More to the point I've really helped people. They've crawled in and walked out. It's no miracle cure, it's hard bloody work and I love it.
For the first time in ages I have given myself some time to sit down with a good single malt and a Cuban cigar. The light is fading and it's getting towards zero degrees. But I have a candle and a wooly hat and I'm not going in til my fingers burn. Happy days.

Unlike "Lightning Boy" Ralph Macchio in the film Crossroads I will not be utilising elements of classical music to beat the devils champion at playing the guitar. I will mostly be playing the blues. My new band Mama'Stel plays its first gig on Friday. It's been a long time since I played guitar in a band.
